Whitewater rafting in Nepal

When you think of Nepal, Whitewater rafting and kayaking are not the first things that spring to mind at least it's not for me. Images are more likely to Kathmandu, rice paddies, Everest and Himalaya mysterious pop in the head. So can imagine my surprise when I was in Nepal and ended up rafting and kayaking in excess of 10 times!

When you arrive in Thamel and Pokhara (the main tourist area in Nepal) are travel agencies, everywhere, and I immediately decided rafting was something I had done in his time in Nepal. The first decision to make, the river continued. Nepal has many of the best rivers, from the slightly flowing river some wildest whitewater in the world. So, depending on experience a desire for adrenaline, there is surely something for everyone! Best time to go is between March to June and September-October, although route will run throughout the year, water is the highest, fastest and most exciting during these months.

Choosing to go with the company can prove even more difficult bit! There are plenty of travel agencies lining on the streets, but to choose one among the others, it is almost impossible ... They all offer virtually the same price, almost exactly same tours and promise the best period of my life! There are many companies out there, it's a shame to say that they are only for their money. It is important to find a registered company, which has security procedures. I ended up going with Adventure Kayaking GRG Party (http://www.grgadventurekayaking.com). Which met Maila, owner, several times around Thamel I believed that it would deliver what they promised, and after this bit of research I found that it is currently Kayaker best time in Nepal, having just won the championship again Himalayan (http://www.peakuk.com/peakukevents.php) I felt that I made the right decision, and would be in good hands.

The road to the river was amazing in itself. Came from the valley have met more traditional way of life. Women working in rice fields in saris, looking more glamorous, than I could ever achieve! Children exercise their books on their heads, walking along the road to school, Gorgeous mountains in the background, Random Buffalo dots in the name of the whole scene, but a few things we saw on the way to river. After 2 hours of trance staring out the window, we arrived to the small Village customized for all your rafting needs. There was little shelter (a bit like one you can imagine, Mary and Joseph fallen in!) So you changed the V, toilet, tea, biscuits, water, everything you need before you start the day on the river!

On arrival at the starting point, I realized I made the best decision to go with GRG. There were about 20 boats lined up and waiting to go with different companies and we as one with the safety kayakers. You see GRG where it has its logo 'SAFETY FIRST' z!

And that was it, Maila and the team got us all appropriate and introduction, life jackets, helmets, (depending on the weather, initial jackets were available) and a very informative discussion Security We were gone! Immediately greeted our first rapid, aptly named 'Good Morning', which first splash in the face and down your T-Shirt certainly wake!

As soon as we started, I was hooked, the joy of the rapids and not knowing what will be around the next corner was so exciting! Team raft guides and safety kayakers we had with us were amazing, gave us all al ease, and at first glance, the flat water they turn all of us doing on a raft, playing games and swimming far into the water. With safety kayakers always close at all times, even once, I feel that they are very professional, but great fun at the same time and made kayaks look like the extended part of their bodies. When the river would not give to someone before (and I must say that after trying several kayak, I have more respect for the boys, because if it is far from as simple as it looks!)

Trisuli, the first river rafted in Nepal, I was the best choice for first timer. This will gives confidence in the river and enthusiasm to address something a little more challenging.

Working our way to river could be heard shouting "ALL FORWARD 'and' BACK PADDLE 'fill the valley. When the water was flat and we had to change that in our neighborhood suddenly realize landscape was simple amazing. There were eagles, monkeys, and beautiful hills all around us, heaven!

After one of the best days of my life, laughter, shouting, holding for dear life all the way down to the river, I had a very good work out. I was so surprised when we arrived at the beach to see the tents are already in operation and tea waiting for us. GRG team literally thought of everything. I do not know how to do it, but the food was the best I've ever had, and I promise that I'm not exaggerating! It's great that everyone is working for GRG came and sat with us at the campfire and joined in part, then we all camped in the up-turned boats, admiring the stars, the Milky Way even gave us their presence. (Tents available for those who are not staying out all night.)

I felt really nice to see that GRG It uses all local produce to cook food, and only wood that has already fallen, rather than buying wood from the surrounding villages, and therefore are not encouraging deforestation. It was also nice to see that every thing that came to us came all the way back and was properly disposed of. They only employ local staff, and that is worth more than you can know. Knowledge of these people to the river, it is hard to believe, that grew on the river, know his every step and every hole, as the back their hands.

After a great nights sleep we went on the second day, which was as much adrenaline as the day before. A security kayakers have proved a few of us climbed party raft, where 'S Bend "quickly captured a few of us surprised! GRG "It was so professional that we got back on the raft and safely within a few seconds, and with minimal fuss, with our confidence and makes us feel safe.

Unfortunately, the way he had come to the end of the year. Pulled We have that a little lunch (eat more than was absolutely necessary, because the food was so good!) and jumped on the bus back.

After one of the best weekends of my life, I was obsessed, I ended up spending my Christmas with GRG to learn a kayak and go on more trips than I remember them on several rivers. Whitewater Rafting and Kayaking definitely my trip to Nepal, and I would urge that someone figures to go to. Whether you have two days to spare or two weeks, there's something here for everyone. Just remember choose reliable company.
