Lajolla: Beverly Hills of San Diego
With its panoramic views of the ocean, swaying palm trees and unbeatable weather, La Jolla, without would like Hawaii five-hour flight.
That was decades ago and we just returned from our first real experience long-distance travel memorable, eye-opening trip to Hawaii that exposed a few wet Pacific Northwest College Students to clear sun and warm salt water that we never knew existed. The very next month we were in Southern California vacation, we came to La Jolla, and it was, as Yogi would say, d? vu all over again.
To make sure that the water in Southern California was nicer than it was warm. And there were too many indigenous Hawaiians while Hawaii does not seem to be not many. CO La Jolla to be views, and it was clear that the sun, and we decided that one day we go back and live there.
We are finally live and work there, even if only for a short time, and a special coastal retreat has all its promises. "Village" as the local Call Girard Avenue and communities that surround it, is a gourmet blend of spices that make life so enjoyable Fine dining, world-class shopping, countless outdoor activities, surf, sand, stunning views and, of course, almost constant - the sun.
Currently, local home values are expensive to the average mortal, and if you live there, you're either very well for themselves, or had the good fortune to grow up in a family that bought a local real back when local land prices were reasonable probably sometime just after statehood. But there are two groups of people who living temporarily in the village: the tenant and tourists. Tenants plunk a few thousand a month at a fraction of the digs, tourists stay only briefly, but much more economically.
Which is why it is great to be a tourist in La Jolla. With a choice of several elegant hotels and spa resorts, and, yes, some pretty reasonable price visitors can pretend that the life lifestyle in a few days and still go home with money in your pocket.
It all starts with people watching the parade down Gerard Avenue. The plan to gourmet sandwiches on a number of cafes and then plop out on the table. Head of the show's 20-something dressed in a bomb spaghetti-strapped Capris and collar, dragging along a five-inch poodle, which is impartial certainly in that part of the show. Next on row: 30-something clean-cut man wearing lumberjack boots ankle, pants squished into the shoes, and his long-sleeve shirt over his well belt. This must be the new fashionable La Jolla, because of its stylish 20-something model-like girl seems to be a little embarrassing to walk beside him. Thence along comes two 30-something men, dressed almost identically in turtlenecks, expensive sports jackets and shades, certainly a hot in the mid-day sun, but cool in their own minds. And so far, during lunch, which costs almost nine U.S. dollars standing on a sandwich.
You might even see celebrities in this neck of the forest. We came to Geena Davis and her two children at once, while the beautiful people like Cindy Crawford actually bought a house in the Village. Barbra Streisand is said to have bought her wedding ring at the Bowers SW. Film and TV recording are common and long-time series Silk Stalkings use the local scene very often depicting shimmering magic of the South California.
Review Gerard a bit, and it seems that a lot of temptation to your credit card. There are special shops like Rangoni shoes, art galleries, such as Cosmopolitan art and paintings from nature, and then another typical "mall" stores such as Banana Republic and Gap. Side streets have their own victims, many of them related to health, fitness and well-being, even if you need some plastic surgery to be good.
Gerard is one of the two main streets in the Village. Also known for their purchases is Prospect Avenue, which also has lots of trendy boutiques and popular restaurants. Look at George for a wonderful view of the ocean and award-winning cuisine. Brockton Villa is different only from the prospect that seems perennial favorite. Caesar salad on the outdoor board to Moondoggie it can be refreshing and relatively cheap pause as the wind from the shore to find a way to this part of the purchase neighborhood. Just footsteps from Scripps Park, such as outdoor cafes, as Cody, the French Side of the West and Fay Gourmet Seafood.
Scripps Park is in fact just one block down from the main shopping center, and yet it is something other than commercial. You may find, ecology tee-shirt State but mostly it's green lawns and meandering walkways that attract friends, lovers and families to stroll along one of the most picturesque banks throughout California. The coast is jagged and rocky in places, while simultaneously offering just to the beach to unload their beach towels in private. Walk about 10 minutes south and you will find La Jolla Cove, where you can monitor local seals Sun at the scenic beach.
Skirting the eastern edge of Scripps Park is a scenic road, which is often used as a cycling between La Jolla and other tourist beach town Pacific Beach. The ride takes you to beautiful neighborhoods never far from the sea and views over the fascinating city Birdrock. Also, she is unprofessional and trends, but maybe a notch in price.
La Jolla Shores is just north of downtown and offers a mile-long beach, where locals and tourists gather for the outdoor activity. Nearby are expensive houses in the area of La Jolla Shores, as well as several hotels and small shopping center.
Near the sea maintain, so it is common to see divers preparing for their sports sessions in deep. If you scuba, you will find other ways how to get close to the ocean, such as paddling a kayak in an area near what is known as the La Jolla Caves. Or you can actually climb in the caves visit La Jolla Cave and Shell Shop, where the 145-step on the sidewalk Sunny Jim Cave, the largest of these caves.
Another seaside favorite is the Birch Aquarium, a popular place for families to do-close look at sea life, such as coral reefs, tide pools and even sharks. Aquarium has a 70,000-gallon tank, the marine creatures that are on display.
If you just want to drive around the area, spectacular homes to make it worthwhile. One particularly rewarding way is to head up Nautilus Street the highest increase in the city, where Mt. Soledad Memorial Cross is dedicated to veterans of both world wars and the Korean War. While there has been a political drag-of-war for the cross, whether to stay, views from this part of La Jolla offers one of the best ways to view the topography of the whole area of San Diego.
