Tsavo Safari Camp-Tsavo East National Park

Near Mtito Andei, this camp is a good restful stopover on the way to the coast. Twenty-seven kilometers in  the hot dryness of the little visited Tsavo East National Park, Tsavo Safari Camp is a green oasis at the Athi River. To get there, park you vehicle in your camp and take a lot very short trip across the river in a rubber boot.

Tsavo Safari Camp is in use for 28 years and was originally a hunting camp. Today, 30 tents and six bandas (for which such donÂ't cloth) are close together in a row along the River. They are well shaded by trees. Small gardens of native flowers and exotic plants are distributed in amazing green lawns, a swimming pool is a sharp refreshing treat.

The focus of the camp is the rock and Thatches bar / dining area on two sides to the garden and river. Lionel Nutter is the long time host Â-he creates a warm and personal atmosphere. Everything is very relaxed and casual. The bar has become a popular watering hole for the British Kenyans which can even fly in just for the afternoon.

There are hundreds of resident birds, the camp is a real rhinoceros bird heaven. Take your seats to the shore to watch the birds sunset.

The game is not easy to see from this camp. A Dik Hout here, one there-dik and occasional jackal or Oryx. If you are lucky you might see a Kudu. Because your vehicle on the other side of the river, you must book and pay for additional game drives, which can be rather expensive. Another special offer is a trip to the Yatta plateau for sundowners and watching the sun behind mt. Kilimanjaro.

The tents are comfortable and simply furnished. They all have a large bathroom with shower solar heated water and flush toilets. There are five family tents with extra beds.

Voi Safari Lodge, Tsavo National Park

Voi Safari lodge is situated high on a red rock bluff overlooking a busy water hole and a large expanse of the Tsavo National Park East. The whole curves lodge on the edge of the cliff, so you get great views from every which-dining room, terrace, swimming pool and bedrooms.

The lodge itself is not luxurious, but it is remarkable even in spectacular ways. Natural rock is actually used in the walls and floors with interesting gourd lamps in the lounge / bar, open air and birds. The wooden animal carvings above the bar are often accentuated by the real work in baboons peer in through the skylight roof.

You walk in bare red rock by rock gardens to the point and the swimming pool at the edge of the cliff. In five minutes you can see Cape buffalo, elephants, antelopes and many baobab sight Â-point.

Each of the 50 double rooms has an entire wall of windows, two or three single beds and bathroom with shower telephone rather tired.

The lodge is located in Tsavo East National Park, 338 kilometer by 161 kilometer from Nairobi and Mombasa. It is very popular with tourists and is often used as a lunch-stop route between Mombasa and Nairobi. There is an airstrip three kilometers away in the nearby city of Voi.
