rubber boat propeller
I go through this process step by step, the instructions may be executed in one days, weekend, or a combination of days leading up to the last step of the boat. I am inclined to spend the week prior to the purchase of supplies needed for this task to fulfill.
- If possible, always trying to run your fuel down to 1 / 4 tank or less. At this point you add the right amount of fuel conditioner to your gas tank. With the conditioner in the fuel tank run your boat for at least 1 / 2 hours. This will ensure the fuel conditioner / stabilizer has its way in the system.
- Remove all your suits. This means all inclusive anchors, ropes, life jackets, half use lures, such as coffee cups remaining trash that may attract bugs etc.
- With an empty boat and empty boxes you can start with the cleaning. For a deep clean your carpets and compartments I recommend heading to your local station hand held pressure washer. I recommend you provide a car-wash bucket and a rigid brush with a handle with you. Your first use of the pressure washer weeks down all carpets and deep compartments. Then you mix up a car wash solution per the manufactures instructions a large bucket. Next, scrub the carpet from the front steps at the back. Finally start the pressure washer for a final rinse. This you can expect about $ 8 to 12 dollars on this step, however, I find that this method is well worth the time and money.
- The next step is to dry your carpets and compartments. A wet / dry shop VAC works well in reducing the time it will take for everything to dry. Make your compartment lids left open for the boat is dry. This may take several days complete, depending on the weather.
- Once everything clean and dry you are ready for the final clean and maintain your boat. Check your media for any persistent stains left behind from the wax down. You can use a general cleaning but I always test a small amount in a hidden area before you go blasting chemicals on your boat.
- At this point you're ready for your boat was a pretty fresh. Make sure you always use a good quality fiberglass cleaner and scratch remover wax and 100% cotton towels for this step. Prior to the application of one, the torso should be clean and dry. Make your cotton applicator to help the flow was a little better. Start at the front of the boat and work your way to the back. I've found that the use of a stool with wheels makes this process a little less painful.
- If your trailer has (PPG) paint with clear coat, I recommend that you always apply a coat of wax to the end of the season. For this use a quality car cleaner and scratch remover was.
- Make sure the drain plug is removed, so the excess water will drain.
- Then add one gallon of antifreeze in your RV Biodegradable live wells and run through a few minutes drive holds any water in the pumps.
- Depending on your engine, you can miss it but I recommend if you have direct injection that you bring to a trained professional to perform your full winterizing your engine.
- Make sure you check your batteries are fully charged. I choose to all my cables and remove the batteries from the boat and keep them in my garage. (Some people have luck leaving the batteries in their boat, your call)
- If you have not, I suggest you remove and replace your lower end fluid. Make sure you use the recommended brand for your engine.
- Remove and inspect prop at the moment. Check for potentially fishing line was tangled behind the prop. Next apply a film of grease on the prop shaft before replacing the plug. Make sure the torque to the manufactured specs. Finally, install a new safety cotter pin to hold the prop shaft nut securely in place.
- The last thing as far afield maintenance is your turn to fat points. I use a good quality marine grease and a standard auto-grease gun. Make your friends with a fresh pair of pumps too fat. Finish this process by checking your tire pressure, check your lugs and inspect your tires.
- Now your boat cleaned, stabilized, charged, and greased the last step is to replace your safety. You should check that everything goes back into your boat will not be damaged when the temps dip below freezing mark.
These steps to be sure you have a much better experience come spring when you are ready to return to the water. I would call as a step in this example seems too much to handle, you you complete a professionally trained for you.
