Kayaking in La Jolla in February, what to wear?
This will be my first time to go kayaking. We're going on a sightseeing tour through the La Jolla caves. The water is cold this time of year, and I do not know how to get wet. What we have planned for yourself? Im thinking board shorts and perhaps and a long sleeve shirt or far, and I should be much better prepared. Water temperature is around 60 and temperature should be about 65 outside, but going at 9 o'clock. By the way, is the place to rent wetsuits close, I really dont know if it's a good idea. I quite like the idea that the wetsuit wearing tons of people wear?
You may want paddling jacket - raincoat work too. Something to keep you dry and wind blocked top. You can always remove if you get too heat, but its unfortunate when you have a cold. You are pretty wet and foggy, and the wind can chill you pretty good, although his sunny outside. Wear boardshrts as your ass gets wet, either water shoes or some kind of waterproof sandal with a strap, such as Chaco or Teva. If you think it will really cold, so I went with the shoes. If you think you have in the water a lot, then I would recommend neoprene suit, but I never had the need to wear one - even in February. REI has a massive sale from Friday, a lot of things will be half off so I have to recommend checking. Fun!
