Q about Kabar knives?
I bought a used 12 "Kabar in good to excellent condition with leather sheath from the pawn today. I have an el cheapo knife with built had compass and survival kit in the handle. I'm going to bring a knife with me when I snorkeling / kayaking / fishing, and it will get wet in salt water. Want to join the Kabar or a cheap knife for this purpose? I Brake for cleaning oil before and after each use. I also wonder if the leather scabbard would love to salt water. Thanks
Tough question ... and here is the real reason. If you think kayaking and fishing knife to carry, on one day you can simply falling overboard and it becomes a permanent part of "Davy Jones' Locker. "On the other hand, if you are a really cheap .. knife or a knife ... then when you take a good knife for a good job ... you do not need with you. Kabar are large knives ... or at least they used to. I know that much of what they sell is now Made in China ... but that's life I guess.
