Who heard the army / air / sea cadet program? (Canada)?
seriously, like his great youth (12-18) program, even better than scouts. I'm surprised not many people heard of it. developing leadership, citizenship, teamwork work, discipline, physical fitness, communication skills, things that young people lack these days. Ive of some of the best memories and experiences in this program (the army cadet). and it looks really good on your CV! to do many things, and the best of all, its free (cost of living, food, transport, etc.) paid by the Canadian government. Free 2-6 day summer camps week (in fact, pay for training allowances back to buy snacks and such), rock climbing, kayaking, hiking glacier trek, bike (in the Rocky Mountains), cultural exchanges in many different countries in Europe and North America to jump from an aircraft expedition to the Alps in France,
I heard about it and I was also involved in air and army cadets. I am also very strongly associated with the Scouts and we can say both programs are good for their own purposes. Have different focus and Youth appeals for different reasons. I had no direct involvement, therefore I can not comment directly on it. Air Cadets tend to attract children, who something better in school and who come from two parent upper middle class families, while the Army cadets tend to have more children from one parent homes. I think the Army Cadet program is a bit restrictive. I mean, it what they do, but the exercise band, PT and camping (its not like its military exercises or something), while in the air cadets doing the same exercise band and PT, but the flying and flying program is attractive to many children.
