travel before the internet
I've been traveling for more than 40 years - by thumb in my early days that Scouts shoes, Lambretta came next and then my first old banger followed later old bangers on the Costa Brava beaches.
My toe, shoes, bicycles and crackers with me across Europe and the UK before finding that charter flights to Spain the old 'Connie' to me to the beaches and bars much faster and more time to enjoy local travel opportunities horse and cart and the occasional bus and train.
'Go West and Prosper' It seemed a good idea so instead of 8 hours flight, I was eight days of transatlantic migration from Tilbury to Montreal to Stephan Batory, Polish Ocean Lines in ensuring that that jet lag did not trouble my travel plans. A few years later, I crossed the pond back to the boat, but this time it was 5 times greater and I traveled
<A Href = http://www.ticketfront.com> Tickets </ a> in the style of the QE2 and Queen dined in the Grill somewhat removed from my past experience. I highly recommend the ocean travel, but can not see myself on one of the modern The cruise ship will be from port to port with a constant-UPS line to get on and off buy T-shirts. However, I did 10 Windjammers and Star Clipper cruise in the Caribbean, all of which were memorable (Hopefully, Windjammer Barefoot Cruises to recover from their troubles). But I digress.
I read that Canada is a great country from sea to shining sea, and my entry into the St. Lawrence River to Montreal and then heading west in the old Econoline van from the Great Lakes, across the prairies to the Rocky Mountains, pending whale watching off the Pacific Coast of Vancouver Iceland was a trip to the miracle that a man from London. Today the landscape is still spectacular and the best way to go still on the road to rent or buy a car, caravan or motorbike, the train or bus, but remember the map, fly rod, good shoes and take your time.
My favorite Part of Canada / USA for adventure travel is to be Northern BC / Alaska, the Chilkoot Trail trip in the footsteps goldseekers 1898. Northwest Territories Nahannie canoeing the Yukon River and drive from Dawson City to Chicken, Alaska. If you like the outdoors, and can live with a few mistakes, and part of the journey of a few hills, or drive the endless dirt roads sharing space with moose, caribou, elk, bears and eagles, then it is a place that on your list. Pleasure and experience in driving on the Dempster highway to Inuvik and Prudhoe Bay on the Dalton Highway, or even the Canol road may be a feeling that is. I would mention Alaska Highway, but now it's easy to drive, unlike the above.
Today, management costs of these distances, may mean sharing the journey with others is necessary, but RVing or just vanning and camping is a great way to see a horizon. Some adventures enroute now must be booked in advance, whereas when I hiked the Chilkoot Pass, Denali and it was only for turning up, registration with the local ranger office and heading to out. A little more planning is needed for today's travelers and cost savings on long flights or drives must somehow face more careful planning. On reasonable gas prices would not account when driving or flying and cost driven to Key West from the northwest coast, down the west coast of the Baja and the western shore of New York. Once I even 1946 Fleet flew my taildragger from the Pacific to the Atlantic and back, using about 5 gallons an hour AvGas. Before the oil crisis and the credit I drove from Rio de Janeiro to Lima, to Tierra del Fuego and back to Rio de Janeiro, covering over 15,000 miles of spectacular scenery and without consideration of the cost of gas. South America should be on your route too! Some other memorable drives, which may now require a mortgage with gas companies include London to Nordkapp, Norway, Skippers Canyon in New Zealand and the loneliness of the far north of Australia and stunning coastline Western Australia would stop at Monkey Mia and Wave Rock.
We tend to forget that the actual cost of travel
<a href=http://www.ticketfront.com> tickets </ a> is often lower than today over 40 years of my travels. In 1977, my round-trip ticket from Canada to Australia cost over $ 1,700 in 1977 dollars, so now it is much cheaper to fly, even with the airlines extortion for fuel, extra baggage, no service, and no joy. 'Big Mac' method of comparing prices, such as The Economist newspaper gives us a good gauge for the majority of expenditures in comparison with yesterday, today, but my $ 1,500 cost of obtaining private pilot license in In 1970, it seems cheap compared to today, but obviously not using the Big Mac principle. Other travel costs are also much cheaper, but today it would not mean that travelers should disregard the many ways to save costs, which can then be asked to extend or enhanced travel experiences
Post-travel Internet:
In my 40 years travel I had to use a travel agent to make the simplest of reservations and buy tickets, and it never occurred to them to ask if "there was done? "It was just a case would be no other options to purchase travel. Now we have unlimited possibilities, and may strive for a better, travel agencies, better prices, better selection and information anywhere in the world, for our journey - Without leaving home.
The Internet now offers travelers the proposals and options, where to go, when to go, why to go, what do, who to book and how to save money and offset the cost. We can look for and find experts for every travel option. We are satisfied with the Internet we no longer have to go to a travel agency to book and buy tickets with the exception of book with some of the larger travel companies that still produce glossy brochures and offers all inclusive packages, or tours, which are only sold through the agency system. Internet also allows those of us who are smart enough to know when looking for top travel agents with knowledge, experience and expertise (KEE skills), destinations and activities, about where to find them. There is no longer any need to use only our local agents when we can find anywhere else in the world. When we do not need 'Knowledge' and can do it ourselves, we simply browse the web, we can book directly with tour operators and travel wherever they decided to go.
Some travel agencies operate their own tour, some are wholesale and retail trade, some limit consumer choice only sell their 'preferred' suppliers and some professional consultants with years of experience invested in the acquisition of knowledge, experience and expertise and are worth their weight in gold to savvy traveler. Beware though, as some of them are also called destination specialist and one of those signs only require agent, the basic problem has tourism offices, destination marketing, or even tour operators and, in my view, the harm the reputation of tourism. The specialist is not necessarily an expert.
Travel is probably the most widely used commercial aspect of the Internet, and retail agents if they want to take advantage of this exciting medium to provide 'knowledge' and 'kee' skills of a global audience, not just their local community, must accept the changes that are happening. Travelers now have the opportunity seek answers to the 5 W on travel, and important 'how' to save money and offset costs by having the information Just click.
And then it occurred to me that even Internet travel prices often include a commission element, even though the direct sale consumers. If we book directly with carriers, we should not be forced to pay full retail price as well as for themselves what they would retail agent normally do for us. Dilemma for operators is that the show and the retail price and the option could deter many agents from the sale of services, such as a travel agent can be used for free advice and book directly with the operator getting 'no commission' price. Apparently this two-tier pricing is often available, but travelers who need assistance should also not be penalized by retail prices. A new way had to be found and I think I've found it!
The need for fairer fare prices is the reason why I have developed Top Travel Voucher program to the top Travel Club and I even found a dot com for it. All travel choices for these sites are 'not the Commission' prices for members who handle there own travel arrangements directly related to with operators on the club website using our voucher program.
I'm inviting travel operators from around the world to join this program, the B & B, motels, hotels, luxury chalets, Eco Resorts, Beach Resorts and tour and adventure operators, who want to advertise their products and services for travelers who are comfortable with direct bookings and reservations.
I also invite Travel agent's knowledge, experience and expertise of destinations and activities that showcase their skills on the global audience members and passengers of the new Travel Club. I doubt whether the 'professional' agents' and only want experts presentation of their services.
This option is available for tourism without charge, except for them to offer a clean, wholesale selling price, or club members and website visitors with top travel vouchers. I believe that This program offers a fairer fares on direct-booking travelers. The operator would normally have to pay commission as well, But now passengers have savings because they make their own arrangements.
Top Travel Club opened in mid-April 2008 offers thousands of top travel documents for travel in over 70 countries with around 150 travel operators onboard. Each week we will add additional travel agencies with more opportunities for members. Currently you can get savings on accommodation, adventure travel, boat charters, gourmet tours, hiking, cycling and diving tours, car and RV rental cottages and fishing tours, safaris, accommodation, single travel, women only, and dude ranches. Members receive a voucher free paying an annual membership fee and non-members can purchase vouchers online at Top Travel in places, deeply discount to the face-value. Future growth will include restaurants, travel clothing, travel insurance and the opportunity to access unification ticket, who wants to deal directly with consumers.
The way I traveled, so I can see, travel is that consumers should have unrestricted access to all travel opportunity is the ability to do their own due diligence or find a specialist who can offer quality advice and service at reasonable prices, and find it all without having endless hours of searching.
To learn more about a new way of offsetting the cost of travel can be found at the beginning and I apologize Travel Club behind some of the spelling (passenger / traveler), but that's what I learned. So long as we all understand the meaning, Vive le difference!
