Springs Delight
Wekiwa Springs State Park is known by residents of Orlando, but it's a mystery to most visitors. Hidden in Apopka, springs, wilderness wonderland.
The most conspicuous thing about the park is the main spring and swimming area. The water is crystal clear and for some great snorkeling! But it's a little on the cool side cool 70 degrees Fahrenheit year round.
Back in time
If you want to see what Florida used to look like the houses and shops and amusement parks took over, go on the road at Wekiwa Springs State Park. There are about 17 kilometers of trails in the park, so there is plenty of free space movement. Winding Rivers
Canoeing is the biggest draw at Wekiwa Springs State Park. There are miles of river to paddle or just float down. Water is clear trees to cool the canopy and the sky is blue. You can start at the head springs, paddle down the river, then shuttle back to "Canoe Beach" - the starting point.
Campgrounds Tales
There is also camping at Wekiwa Springs State Park, and is one of the few Florida State Parks, which actually allows pet camping! Not to worry, there is a camp for people free Pets, too.
